3M Scotchcast Casting Resin 280 is a yellowish-transparent two-component system consisting of epoxy resin and hardener. It is a thermosetting multi-purpose resin with low viscosity that remains medium-flexible after curing. It is self-extinguishing and with a temperature resistance of up to 155 °C, it belongs to insulating material class F. The unfilled casting resin is extremely resistant to ageing and moisture and has excellent physical and electrical stability. Thanks to its good flow properties, it completely encloses even the smallest coils. Casting resin 280 is therefore ideal for impregnating coils and transformers by both impregnation and moulding. It can also be used for embedding electronic modules or transformers etc. and for filling cavities, for example in winding heads.
