3M Scotchcast casting resin 9 is a brown two-component system consisting of epoxy resin and hardener. It is a cold-curing multi-purpose resin of medium viscosity that remains medium flexible after curing. It is self-extinguishing and with a temperature resistance of up to 130 °C, it belongs to insulating material class B. The filled moulding resin generates only a low exothermic reaction temperature, has good electrical values and can withstand high mechanical and thermal shock loads. It is also characterised by high mechanical strength and good thermal conductivity. In addition to metal, it also adheres well to many plastics. 3M polyimide film 92 is characterised above all by its extreme temperature resistance and very good dielectric properties. In conjunction with a high-quality silicone adhesive, it forms a high-performance combination of mechanical, electrical, thermal and chemical properties, which remain stable in a temperature range from -40 °C to +180 °C. The insulating tape therefore belongs to insulating material class H. The 0.076 millimetre thin adhesive tape can withstand a breakdown voltage of 7,500 volts and is flame-retardant in accordance with UL 510.
