3M Acrylic Plus adhesive tape made from a black acrylic foam for use on automotive surfaces that are difficult to bond (e.g. powder coatings, clear coats containing nanoparticles, PP, EPDM, etc.). The adhesive tape is suitable for attaching plastic add-on parts such as stone guard strips, bumper protection strips and wheel arch extensions. EX4008 is characterised by very good adhesion to modern, difficult-to-bond automotive surfaces, both for various paint systems and primerless for low-energy plastic surfaces. The foam core guarantees good wetting and adaptation to the surface geometry. In addition, the EX4008 adhesive tape is characterised by good internal strength and good long-term stability. 3M polyimide film 92 is characterised above all by its extreme temperature resistance and very good dielectric properties. In conjunction with a high-quality silicone adhesive, it forms a high-performance combination of mechanical, electrical, thermal and chemical properties, which remain stable in a temperature range from -40 °C to +180 °C. The insulating tape therefore belongs to insulating material class H. The 0.076 millimetre thin adhesive tape can withstand a breakdown voltage of 7,500 volts and is flame-retardant in accordance with UL 510. The polyimide film is therefore suitable for applications where it is exposed to high temperature fluctuations, particularly for masking contacts when soldering circuit boards.
