Higher density EXL materials can be extremely tough and aggressively abrasive, allowing them to effectively deburr edges and corners without damaging the workpiece. Lower density materials are soft, conformable and provide a finer finish. They are ideal for finishing contoured surfaces. These sanding discs prevent smearing, giving you cleaner surfaces and reducing preparation time. They are available with silicon carbide or aluminium oxide abrasive mineral. Silicon carbide is a very sharp-edged, synthetic abrasive commonly used for low-pressure applications such as painting and finishing work. Aluminium oxide is a hard, blocky mineral with a high removal rate and long durability. Although silicon carbide removes faster than aluminium oxide, it produces a finer finish. Compact products are durable due to their production process. The compression and hardening of multiple layers of abrasive creates a tough and dense abrasive that can be used for heavy deburring and polishing tasks.
