The new 3M Speedglas welding mask G5-02 gives professional welders even better vision. The world's first curved automatic welding filter supports precise work with an extra-wide field of vision. The new product was developed especially for tungsten inert gas welding (TIG welding), and the mask can also be used for all arc welding processes.

Thanks to its curved shape and slim design, the welding mask adapts perfectly to the individual head shape and enables significantly improved peripheral vision. At the same time, reflections and similar disruptive light effects are greatly reduced. Welders therefore benefit from a clearer field of vision. Another advantage of the new design: as the filter follows the round shape of the head, the centre of gravity of the automatic welding filter and the welding mask is also closer to the wearer's head. This results in optimised weight distribution, which ensures better wearing comfort.

Advantages for TIG welding

With four arc sensors and advanced electronics, the welding filter can be used for all arc welding processes. A particular strength is the reliable switching during TIG welding with a very stable arc - in accordance with the new ISO 16321 "TIG+" standard. The glass used for the automatic welding filter is extremely flexible and highly heat-resistant. It has been certified in accordance with the same impact resistance tests as conventional flat versions. The new welding filter and the attachment lens therefore fulfil the requirements of EN 166:F and EN 175:F (resistance to high-speed particles up to 45 m/s).

More comfort for the user

The G5-02 also features 3M Natural Colour Technology, which gives welders a more realistic colour perception. The filter has a tint of light level 2.5 with natural colour perception. The control panel of the automatic welding filter has been redesigned and is even quicker and more intuitive to use. If required, users can set a fixed dark level and use the welding filter like a passive filter. The welding filter can be paired with a smartphone via Bluetooth using the 3M Connected Equipment app. In this way, up to four settings can be pre-programmed, including the preselection of dark levels, sensitivity and delay.
