The 3M EMC aluminium shielding tape 1170 is an aluminium foil coated with a conductive acrylic adhesive. With an electrical resistance of ten milliohms, it can be used wherever electromagnetic shielding is required, but where the conductivity requirements are not too high. The aluminium shielding foil is therefore a good low-cost alternative to copper tapes. In addition to EMC applications, it is also ideal for earthing and discharging electrostatic charges. Its excellent punchability and relatively low overall thickness of 0.081 millimetres make it suitable for a wide range of applications. The adhesive tape is flame-retardant in accordance with UL and its adhesive is resistant to solvents, which guarantees long-lasting functionality.

The 3M EMC copper shielding tape 1181 is a copper foil with a conductive acrylic adhesive. Its excellent corrosion resistance and very good punchability significantly extend its areas of application. With an electrical resistance of five milliohms, the copper foil, which is only 0.066 millimetres thick, has good conductivity and can also be used for earthing and discharging electrostatic charges in addition to EMC applications.
