The 3759 series cables are often used as interface cables for external cabling. For these purposes, the cables have proven themselves as robust and reliable interface components. The inner cable is a ribbon cable with parallel and spliced areas. The spliced areas make the cable more flexible and easier to lay. Connectors with insulation displacement capability can be attached quickly and securely to the parallel areas. Attaching  the connectors is made even easier by the colour-coded edge conductor. The conductor spacing is 1.27 mm, making the cables compatible with a wide range of IDC connectors. The cores have a cross-section of AWG 28  (0.089mm²) and consist of 7 twisted strands whose lay length is significantly shorter than that of comparable products, which significantly increases the reliability of the insulation displacement connection to the connector. This feature characterises all 3M cables with stranded conductors. The cores of the inner cable can be easily separated, allowing bus lines or branches to be realised very quickly.
