The metallic effect is achieved by vapour deposition of aluminium between the film and the transparent adhesive. The aluminium vapour deposition reduces the electrostatic charge and leads to improved processing properties. This adhesive tape is suitable for decoration, splicing, labelling and the production of printed, die-cut and/or embossed labels.

3M polyester film 54 is a particularly thin and elastic insulating tape that is characterised by its high adhesive strength. While the thermosetting rubber adhesive is extremely resistant to flagging, the backing has very high tear and abrasion resistance. The 0.06 millimetre thin adhesive tape can withstand a breakdown voltage of 5,500 volts and, with a temperature resistance of up to 130 °C, belongs to insulation class B. The transparent polyester film is ideal for fine wire coils, as it allows the correct contact assignment to be checked visually.
