The 3M Scotchlok heat-shrink compression connectors can be used in installation technology wherever you want to connect solid conductors using compression technology. After heat-shrinking, the connectors also provide insulation that protects against moisture. They are therefore particularly suitable for applications in non-air-conditioned rooms or outdoors. The seamless connectors are made of tin-plated copper and are surrounded by an insulating layer of polyolefin with an inner coating of hot-melt adhesive. The 3M Scotchlok connector is suitable for connecting solid or stranded conductors in installation wiring technology. With a cross-section range of 0.5 to 1.5 square millimetres, it enables a through-connection even on uncut conductors. The black Scotchlok connector can withstand a maximum voltage of 30 volts and a maximum temperature of 105 °C. It can be used in control, measurement and regulation applications as well as in automotive electrics and switchgear construction. Its function is based on the principle of a U-element: the conductors to be connected are fed into the connector without having to be stripped beforehand. By applying light pressure with the Scotchlok pliers, the U-elements remove the wire insulation, increase the contact surface and establish contact with the conductor. The spring-loaded U-element encloses the individual conductors and ensures a mechanically strong, vibration-proof, electrically perfect and permanent connection.
