This product family is compatible with ribbon cables or round/flat cables with conductor spacing of 1.27 mm. The proven insulation displacement contacts are designed for solid and stranded conductors for increased design freedom in circuit and system development. Stranded conductors with conductor cross-sections of AWG 26 (0.141mm²) and AWG 28 (0.089mm²) or solid conductors with AWG 26 (0.128mm²) or AWG 28 (0.08mm²) can be processed. The contacts in the mating area have a gold coating for optimum electrical performance. The adhesive strips in the cover of the connectors are a valuable aid for manual processing. The cover is positioned at the intended location on the cable and adheres there thanks to the adhesive strip. The connector body is latched into the cover from below and the cover, cable and body are pressed together using a tool. Sturdy metal hooks ensure a secure connection between the plug components and the cable. A plastic lug on the outer housing wall serves as a centre coding. It fits exactly into the recess of the mating connector on the circuit board, preventing incorrect mating and possible damage to the circuit or system. The female connectors are compatible with the 3M 3000 and 2500 series receptacle plugs for PCB mounting. The 3M 3365, 3659 and 3759 series cables are suitable for cable assembly and the products are of course UL listed.
