The electrical connections between enclosures or devices usually consist of cable sets. This means input and output plugs connected to a cable. The signals to be transmitted often need to be protected from interference. This is achieved by metallic shielding of the connectors and cables. The cores of the cable are spirally wrapped in aluminium foil. This in turn surrounds a braid of fine, tinned copper strands. The density of the copper braiding has a significant influence on the protective effect. The final layer is a PVC jacket that encloses the wires and shielding and also serves as protection against mechanical stress.
