The 3M EC cold-shrink end cap is made of EPDM elastomer and protects cables, pipes and other cylindrical objects against the ingress of dirt and moisture as well as mechanical damage. The rubber tubing is closed on one side, on the other it is pre-stretched onto a support spiral. When the spiral is pulled out, the end cap shrinks down and forms a secure, abrasion-resistant seal against moisture thanks to a constant radial contact pressure. It fulfils the requirements of ANSI C119.1 and is therefore suitable for indoor and outdoor applications as well as for underground or underwater installation. Its good thermal stability and resistance to decay, acids, alkalis, ozone and UV radiation guarantee long-lasting functionality. No additional tools such as shrink torches are required for installation. The cold-shrink end cap does not require an adhesive inner coating for sealing and can therefore be easily removed without leaving any residue by simply cutting it open.
