The 3M cable lubricant Lub-P is especially suitable for use in the energy supply and industrial sectors. Due to its special consistency, it forms a secure lubricating film on the cable sheath, even on heavy cables. It can be applied either by hand or by injection or pumping. Lub-P facilitates the pulling through and laying of cables and wires by reducing friction. Signs of wear are significantly reduced - both on the cables and on the equipment used. This effectively prevents cable sheath damage and also prevents cables from becoming tangled or getting stuck. It is therefore particularly recommended for long and winding cable runs. The transparent, water-based cable lubricant can be wiped off easily and cleanly if necessary. Neither silicone nor grease residues make it difficult to work on the cables. In addition, it does not cause irreversible stains on clothing, equipment or surroundings. Lub-P dries out very slowly and is therefore very economical. It leaves only a minimal residue as it contains less than 5.5 per cent solid components. This means that the cables do not stick together or to other cables, which facilitates their movement. It is suitable for high-performance cables and regular 600 V cables, as well as for most cable materials, including polyethylene and semi-cons. It is also compatible with semi-conductive materials. This means that, unlike wax or hydrocarbon based lubricants, it does not affect the volume resistance of medium and high voltage cable sheaths or the insulation layer. Lub-P is extremely temperature-stable and non-flammable. It therefore maintains the flame-retardant and self-extinguishing properties of the cable.
