For demanding processing conditions 3M™ Polyester Adhesive Tape 8901 is a thin, pliable polyester adhesive tape that is ideal for masking tasks in high-temperature applications and adheres well to silicone-coated surfaces. The translucent blue backing film is tear-resistant. Coated with a silicone adhesive, the tape produces sharp coloured edges and is therefore very suitable for masking workpieces during powder coating, for example. It can be removed from most surfaces cleanly and in one go without fraying or tearing. This adhesive tape is also ideal for splicing silicone liners, paper and films that are exposed to high temperatures. Thanks to its good chemical resistance, this adhesive tape proves its worth in chemical processes and other demanding work procedures, such as anodising. The pressure-sensitive silicone adhesive is suitable for a wide temperature range between -50 °C and +204 °C. Recommended areas of application Masking of workpieces during powder coating Splicing of silicone liners, films and papers Bonding of composite materials Covering of metal surfaces in acid or etching baths As surface protection against scratches during handling and transport As an easily removable masking tape during powder coating, the 3M 8900 series polyester adhesive tape is a good choice.
