Scotch Electrical Insulating Tape 88 is a particularly thick premium electrical insulating tape with a PVC film backing. It is characterised by its high abrasion resistance and mechanical strength. The insulating tape is coated with a rubber adhesive that has excellent adhesive strength and elasticity even at sub-zero temperatures. The 0.22 millimetre thick adhesive tape is self-extinguishing and resistant to temperatures of up to 105 °C in the long term. It can withstand a breakdown voltage of 10,000 volts and is resistant to moisture, UV radiation, oil, acids, alkalis and copper corrosion. This makes the PVC tape ideal for all electrical insulation up to one kilovolt that places high demands on chemical, physical and mechanical resilience.

The 3M polyester film 1350-T-1 is a carrier consisting of three layers of polyester film with a coating of acrylate adhesive. Due to the thicker backing material, its insulation performance is significantly stronger. While the adhesive is particularly resistant to solvents and "flagging", the carrier is characterised by very high tear and abrasion resistance. The 0.08 millimetre thick, flame-retardant adhesive tape can withstand a breakdown voltage of 7,000 volts and belongs to insulating material class B with a temperature resistance of up to 130 °C.
